About
12 years of Magento 2 expertise. One senior architect.
I work exclusively with mid-market Magento 2 brands on the problems that carry real consequences: Core Web Vitals that won't pass, backlogs 60 tickets deep, and agencies that can't tell you what they actually shipped.

Founder
Curtis Schrum
Magento 2 Architect & eCommerce Performance Specialist
I founded Arcadia Consultancy to focus exclusively on the kind of eCommerce challenges that require both deep technical knowledge and commercial judgment. Specifically: Magento 2 performance work where slow Core Web Vitals and bloated backlogs are costing real revenue.
12 years in eCommerce engineering across the full agency-to-merchant stack. Most recently I was Digital Commerce Manager at Galco Industrial Electronics, a $160M B2B distributor, leading the in-house Magento 2 dev team through deployments, Jira workflows, and sprint delivery at scale. Before Galco: Director of Engineering at Trellis (30+ engineers, 15 direct reports, took the firm to Elite BigCommerce Partner status), concurrent fractional CTO at Formula Chemicals, and Chief Strategy Officer at Shero Commerce. Also spent time as Digital Commerce Architect at Daniel Defense. I currently consult for a 9-figure DTC firearms brand as the ongoing continuation of that work.
My delivery model pairs AI-accelerated development (Claude Code, Manus) with senior architect review on every PR. The AI handles the first draft and the QA scaffolding. I catch the Magento-isms, the performance traps, and the architectural decisions that don't show up until month six.
Expertise
Where the experience lives
Deep, hands-on experience in Magento 2 performance, architecture, and the integrations that power complex-catalog eCommerce.
Approach
How I work
Diagnose before prescribing
Every engagement starts with a paid diagnostic sprint. I spend week one auditing the store, identifying what's actually killing Core Web Vitals, and reporting honestly on whether the targets are hittable. Before you commit to anything.
Practical over theoretical
Targets are grounded in what can actually be delivered inside a retainer. If your CWV situation isn't fixable in three months, I'll tell you at the end of week one, not month three.
Honest by default
I'll tell you what I think, including what you might not want to hear. If the targets aren't realistic, I say so at the diagnostic readout. That candour is what clients value most.
Transparent by design
You get a shared Jira board, a weekly shipped-vs-committed report, and a monthly CWV trend summary you can forward to your leadership. No black box.
How to Engage
Three ways to work together
Every engagement starts with the Diagnostic Sprint. It's the step that makes sure the retainer will work before either of us commits.

Engine Retainer
20-30 tickets per month, agreed CWV targets by month 3, weekly sync, shared Jira board, and a monthly performance report. 3-month minimum. The starting point for most clients.
